'Tarrawonga' - The old schoolhouse

In the early 1800's the Chalker Estate gave a parcel of land for a church and cemetery to be built on the site now known as Tarrawonga. After the train line came through Mittagong in 1868 the church moved to town. The land was then transferred to the education department for Lower Mittagong Public School to be built. It remained a school until the end of the 1960's when it was sold into private ownership.
